1858.0. "redundunt link status change event?" by TKOV51::HAYAKAWA (Kouhei Hayakawa, NPB/MS, Osaka HUB6F) Tue Jan 10 1995 07:53

Please let me know about DECrepeater900FP and 90FS.

These modules are supported redundunt Fiber-Optic link.
If the active link fails, the standby link is automatically
activated to handle traffic between the repeaters.
Because it automatically occured, I don't notice that.
How can I notice that the status changed ?

Naturally I can know that by operation of HUBwatch.
	But I hope I get a alarm.

        Regards,
	Kohei

1858.1Only by polling it.NETCAD::GALLAGHERTue Jan 10 1995 12:0417
You can use a network management station (NMS) poller to alarm on one of the
objects in the repeaters private MIB. "erptrDprTotalStateChanges" indicates
that one of the DPR links underwent a state change, like from
masterPrimaryActive(2) to masterPrimaryStandby(3). If you're interested in
a particular port, you can use the NMS to poll erptrDprLinkOperStatus or
erptrDprLinkStateChanges.

A future release of repeater firmware will allow alarms on these and other
repeater objects to be specified using a set of MIB objects called RMON
Alarms and Events. RMON A&E allows you to specify that a trap should be
sent when an event occurs.

As stated in note 1837.1, "The Alarms and Events RMON functionality will be
available in all repeaters on the next firmware/hardware release this spring.
This will be a firmware upgrade to all shipping 90/900 SNMP manageable
repeaters."
