1810.0. "HP OPENVIEW USERS?? REVEAL YOURSELVES!" by SNOC02::CALEYJASON (The truth although interesting, is irrelevant.) Thu Dec 22 1994 05:57

    Hello again,

I am seeking to generate a list of people out there who are
SUCCESSFULLY running (or currently trying to run) Hubwatch in conjunction
with HP OpenView 7.2 (a.k.a Workgroup Node Manager).

Please respond to this message so that we can generate some information
between us to solve any problems out there.

personally, I have found support very limiting in Australia due to a
lack of internal 'Digital' users and the fact that the 7.2 runtime under
WNM has not been released by HP here yet.

I would like to add respondants to a distribution list so that we can
nut out any bugs and be capable of selling a packaged management system
    for Windows.

While some people may claim that Hubwatch is only an element manager
and sold as part of a hub sale rather than driving hub sales..remember
there is always the flipside in that most hub purchasers rate
management very high on their pre-requisites for Hub procurement. The
ability to launch Hubwatch within an EMA architecture capable of
logging, mapping, trap generation and interoperability with other
packages (such as trouble-tickets and Incident reporting packages)
gives us a real edge and shows that we a serious in the Hub business.
On the Windows side that means HP OV. (at least until ManageWorks SNMP
    does it all)

    Thanks,

    Jason.

1810.2Is a NOTES conference in order?SNOC02::CALEYJASONThe truth although interesting, is irrelevant.Wed Jan 04 1995 05:2511
    Hi Corinne,

Consider yourself added. I am currently examining the requirement for a
NOTES conference dedicated to it. The better the response, the better
    the chances.

    Regards,

    Jason Caley.

1810.3Sell ManageWORKS insteadNAC::SEAVERBill Seaver, HUBwatch MktgWed Jan 04 1995 14:2440
I am currently running HP OpenView (pre-released version), but I feel
we would do better to run HUBwatch under our product, ManageWORKS. It
is cheaper and provides more functionality and should be sold unless
the customer already has HP OpenView.

S: Selling HUBwatch for Windows and Enterprise Managers

SUMMARY: HUBwatch for Windows can currently be launched for the network map
of two enterprise managers:
HP OpenView for Windows Workgroup Node Manager	$1495
PATHWORKS ManageWORKS Workgroup Administrator	$ 995
as upgrade to PATHWORKS $ 795
Unless your customer is already running HP OpenView, I would suggest you sell
ManageWORKS.

COMPARISON: HUBwatch can run under either enterprise manager and both provide a
network map and trap handling. In addition ManageWORKS also has a MIB
compiler and a PC LAN NOS administrator for Novell NetWare, Microsoft LAN
Manager, IBM LAN Server, and Digital PATHWORKS.

SELLING STRATEGY: If your customer does not have HP OpenView, sell ManageWORKS:
it has lower cost and additional functionality. If you customer already has HP
OpenView, sell HUBwatch for Windows and integrate it into the existing
HP OpenView.

ORDERING & OTHER FINE POINTS: ManageWORKS is a Digital product QB-3MU9A-SA.
Demo copies may be NFT COPY/BLOCK copied off the network from
SWOPS::USER3:[PUBLIC.MWV21.DEMO.MWDEMO*]or free CDrom working copies may be
ordered (EC-N4539-48 beginning in February). HP OpenView for Windows can be
ordered from Tech Data (US only) 800-237-8931. Specify Workgroup Node Manager
V1.01 (V7.2 is only an OEM version). OpenView CANNOT be ordered OUTSIDE OF THE
US.

NOTE: OpenView and its stack must be installed before HUBwatch is installed
(no network option). ManageWORKS uses the same stack as HUBwatch does.

If you have more questions, contact Bill NAC::SEAVER

P.S. HUBwatch for OSF1 AXP (QL-0MWA9-AA) is shipping.

1810.4Will do,SNOC02::CALEYJASONThe truth although interesting, is irrelevant.Sun Jan 08 1995 14:457
Ok, I'll do that. We still need to be able to support our product in
    Existing OpenView environments.

    Reg,

    Jason.
