1672.0. "How many flexible channels are used ?" by TKOV51::SATO_TET (Cogito Ergo Sum) Tue Nov 08 1994 23:44

Can I ask some questions on flexible channel in DEChub900 ?

To make the following configuration, I create one FDDI channel using
Hubwatch. In this case, the number of assignment of FDDI channel in Hubwatch
is one, and it appears as single line in Hubwatch GUI.
But it spends 6 flexible channels. And in case of four PEsw900, it will be
8 channels.
Is it right ?

If it's right, which channels are assigned ?
There are two types of channels. One is 1 through 10, and the other is
11-A,B and 12-A,B. Is there no limition by these two types to assign
FDDI channel ?

Your count of channels required is correct.

You don't need to be concerned about which physical channels are
assigned to the fddi connections - the hub manager does this mapping
based on your logical configuration and the physical capabilities of
    the modules.

In this case, the channels would be chosen first from among those that
the PE modules could not use for ethernet (the higher numbered ones).

We've applied for a patent on how we do this...
