1565.0. "FDDI to Ethernet translation?" by STRWRS::KOCH_P (It never hurts to ask...) Thu Oct 13 1994 12:42

    Where can I find a description of the method used to translate FDDI to
    Ethernet on the DECbridge 900EF?

    There is some discussion of this in our new WWW info on the switches
    under:

       http://www-dechub.lkg.dec.com/internal-info/switches/funct.html

    Some other resources to look at:

    - the AppleTalk link on the WWW switch page contains a description
      of the translation algorithm
    - IEEE 802.1h is the standard
    - Digital Technical Journal, Sep '91 has an article
    - Currently published version of Bridge and Extended LAN Reference

    In general there are 4 cases that translation looks at: 802 packets;
    Ethernetv2 packets; AppleTalk (also called NTP or non-translated
    protocol); raw 802 IPX.
