1470.0. "DEChub 900 lost addresses and configuration data" by CSFR::PILAR () Fri Sep 23 1994 12:46

    Hi,

we are preparing some FDDI/Ethernet configuration here in Czech
        Republic.

We had following problem (similar to 1071.* and 1212):

    DEChub 900MS (FW 3.0.0)
        Slot 1: DECbrouter 90T
        Slot 2: DECwanrouter 90
        Slot 3: DECrepeater 90C
        Slot 4: empty
        Slot 5: DECbridge 900MX (FW 1.2.1)
        Slot 6: DECconcenrtator 900MX (FW 2.0.0)
        Slot 7: DECrepeater 900 TM (FW 1.0G)
        Slot 8: DECserver 900TM (NAS 1.3 BL 80-27)

Trere is FDDI ring on the backplane and two Sables (OpenVMS -
FDDI cluster), GIGAswitch and Jensen (OSF/1) connected to ports
2,3,4 and 5 of concentrator. There is also one Sable (OSF/1) connected
    to GIGAswitch.

    All FDDI cards are DEFEA/UTP.

Jensen was connected to Ethernet. We disconected it and connect it
to FDDI. Nearly in the same time (little bit later) DEChub probably
went through factory reset several times. Then I cycle the power
and hub lost all IP adresses (inbound and outbound) and LAN
    configuration.

    There is log from hub:

    No more Error Log entries.

I am not sure if this was caused by change of Jensen's interface
or by something else. Can somebody have look to log data?

    Thank you in advance

1470.1fixed in V3.1.0NETCAD::RHODESFri Sep 30 1994 12:1516
    Jarry,

I have looked up the PC values that you found in the hub's
error log. We recognize those crashes. It was a bug in the
hub firmware that has been fixed in the firmware version V3.1.0.
I suggest you upgrade the customer to the new version of firmware.
An upgrade from V3.0.0 to V3.1.0 will not erase non-volatile
storage, sot the upgrade should not effect the customer's network
    configuration.

The best place for notes regarding the hub would be in the
DECHUB900_SUPPORT notes file on NETCAD. Send mail to me if you
would like to be a member and are not already (NEWHUB::RHODES).

    regards,
    Ann Marie

You are also behind on the DECbridge 900MX, DECconcenrtator 900MX,
DECrepeater 900 TM ; see recent notes for pointers to the new kit.

The bridge rev in particular can cause problems in configurations like
    yours.

Hi, after upgrade to DEChub 900MS F/W V3.1.0 and DECbridge 900MX F/W 1.4.0 everything seems to be O.K.

Thank you a lot
