1431.0. "DECpacketprobe 90 has failed!" by STRWRS::KOCH_P (It never hurts to ask...) Thu Sep 15 1994 15:15

I have been able to cause a DECpacketprobe 90 to FAIL. No matter what I
do, I can't get it to successfully boot. I believe it has to do with
the "max_log" parameter which indicates it accepts a value between 32
and 1024, but when I sent to 32, a "get agent" says that the value is
200,000+ something and when set to 1024, it says the value is 3145856.
So, I've asked the CSC how to reboot from factory settings to try and
clear the problem and they don't know how or if it can be done. So, how
do I get the DECpacketprobe back into a usable state?

If you say TFTP, does OpenVMS provide TFTP support? If not, does the
ProbeWatch software provide TFTP support for re-downline loading the
    product?

I've attached the error log and agent info for this failing
    DECpacketprobe 90.

I think the fix is to enter command mode and type "clear nvram". Then
don't change max_log again; I believe this is a known bug.

You should be able to upgrade using TFTP from UCX on a VAX. See one of
the notes just prior to this one.
