1322.0. "PROBEwatch Windows Questions?" by STKAI1::SVANA () Thu Aug 18 1994 13:28

Hello! We have a couple of questions according Probewatch for MSWindows.

We are working on an installation in a truckfactory/construction-
plant. Their Network will be monitored/managed via Probewatch/Hubwatch.
Each of their 6 segment will have a DECpacketprobe installed.
	(DH90 and standalone.)

We are now preparing for the installation. Some questions has occured
	while planning/setting up this system.

	1) Since the site is a intensive VAX/Cluster installation. Can we see
	   SCS-packets somehow?

	2) Is there a way setting up The Data Collection to able to see
history? Meaning - is there a way to see what happend last night?
Our struggel to set up the collection has just given us 1 minute
of data. Are we missing something here?

	3) More in data collection: We can't set up more than 64kbyte in
buffer size. When setting up above 64kb the application signals
for us that the value must be 16-1024kbyte? Any sense?

	4) To able to give the customer networkutilization trends for capacity-
planning (or equal). Are there ways of collecting in a more
	   long term basis?

	Thanks very much in advance!

	Bosse and Johan

Version 2 of PROBEwatch will have a filter editor to allow construction of
an SCS domain.

This should be quite straigtforward using Long Term history; the default
interval for Short Term history is 30 seconds, and for Long Term history
is 1 minute. You are missing something here.

1 Mbyte and 1024Kbyte are equivalent; I will try this again, but I have
not been having a problem.

Version 2 of PROBEwatch will allow you to collect data periodically from
the probe and store it on the PROBEwatch station disk.

Look for Version 2 in October.
