1314.0. "DB900mx MIB for MAC addresses" by CTOAVX::WOERNER () Tue Aug 16 1994 15:59

My customer currently hs 40 DECbridge900mx bridges installed. They are
using them as personal ethernet ports. They have one workstation per
port connecting to the FDDI backbone.
They would like to know if there is a MIB available that will tell
them which workstation MAC addresses are off the individual DECbrige900
ethernet ports. The have tried looking through the forwarding datebase
but thier is just to much to sort through.
Since the workstations get moved from location to location over
time, they want to track where they are by the MAC addresses.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. They currently use SUNnet manager, DECmcc, HUBwatch, and are
ordering Polycenter NETview. So a solution for any of these platforms
    woult be acceptable.

    				Thanks

The forwarding database (dot1dTpFdbTable) gives you a list of all
addresses along with their learned port. The easiest way to find
addresses on Ethernet ports only is to get the Fdb out into a file
and write a simple script to extract the ones with dot1dTpFdbPort
ranging from 2 to 7. There is no automatic way of doing this on
the platforms you mentioned, but you might check with Scott Lawrence
who wrote a script for getting similar info from db900's on our own
network based on SNMP exchanges using a public domain tool.
