1280.0. "DECbrouter 90 over Switched 56 kb" by ANGLIN::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton DTN 445-7217) Thu Aug 04 1994 19:14

Does anyone know if there are any potential gotcha's running a pair
of DECbrouter 90s over switched 56kb lines?

Any practical experience?

Thanks.

    Well, logically the only problem would be delay time inherent in a 56kb
    switched circuit. I suggest talking to the vendor and ask them their
    worst case delay time. From this, you can determine whether this would
    cause the circuit timers for bridged connections to be exceeded. Also,
    ask them what their bit error rates are for a standard point to point
    56kb link and their 56kb switched service.

The customer wants to run primarily bridged LAT traffic to the remote
site using the switched 56kb service. It sounds like this could potentially
be a problem for LAT.

I don't know a lot about switched 56kb service from comm service providers.
Do you or anyone else know how this service works?
