1203.0. "DECmau900TL Problems.." by CLPR01::PEYRACHE (Jean-Yves Peyrache Country Support Group France) Mon Jul 11 1994 10:40

  Hi,

any improvement made in MAM V3.0.0 for Token-ring networks ??

in my Case MAM in V2.2.1 and configuration is

  Slot 1 DECmau900TL
  Slot 2 Decmau900TL
  Slot 3 Decserver900TM
  Slot 4 empty
  Slot 5 Decbridge90FL
  Slot 6 Decrepeater90T
  Slot 7 Decrepeater90T
  Slot 8 Decrepeater90T

All works as well since 6 months
(1 Novell Server and 10 PC on the Ring in 16 M)
and some stuffs of PC and VT in Thinwire LAN for the Ethernet Part.

Last Friday, customer want to add a DECagent90 in slot 4 (just ot manage 90FL,
  and some others DEchub90's).

sometimes later , Token-ring networks goes in broken State aka PC can't
communicate with the Novell Server.

Remove Decagent doe'snt solved the problem.
restart the Novell Server does'nt solved the problem and appears on the console
port of Novell Server during the insertion on the Ring a kind of error message
like "....Beaconing"... (beaconing a think if Major word in My case...)

Tried to remove all PC stuff on the Ring , and re-insert the Novell Server
same problem anymore can't insert and "beaconing" error message.

Remove the Decmau900 and Replace it by new one , again same problem.
Just only the Novell Server .sam problem

Put the Novell Server on Decmau900 Stand alone (no in HUB900) and.. the
Server Works Correctly 16 M led lits , put the PC all works as Expected.

Last step for Resolved my problem is to issued a "reset Factory Setting "
command in the Console og My Dechub900.

after that all modules, networks (T/R ethernet), works in my Dechub900.

If anybody have already see this kind of problem, for me, i thinks
that's the MAM lost the Token-ring Configuration until the Factory
  default reset but why ???

  thanks for any comments/reply

the MAM does not store TR module/slot information at this time. the
Module is inserted into Ring A if it is operating at 16 Mbps and Ring B
if it is operating at 4Mbps.
1203.3ok , but why in my casePADNOM::PEYRACHEJean-Yves Peyrache Country Support Group FranceTue Jul 26 1994 13:509
      thanks for this input,

i can't understand why a rest of MAM clear the problem, as you say
the T/R ring are hardwired in the Hub900 (for the moment).

what's kinds of event could produced a no-insertion in the ring
       in this configuration.
