1167.0. "Managing 2 hubs using HUBwatch V2" by XKOV01::RAJESHPRABHU () Tue Jun 28 1994 04:28

Configuration  Clarifiction:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the configuration at the customer place.
There are 2 DEChub 9OOMS.
Hub 1 contains DECrepeater 900TM. The management station is connected to Hub 1.
Management station is loaded with DOS V6, Windows V3.1,HUBwatch V2.0.
Hub 2 contains DECrepeater 900TM. Hub 2 needs to be connected to the Hub 1. Both
of them is managed using HUBwatch workstation.
Is it possible to manage the Hub 2 from the management station in this
configuration ?
If so, how ?
If not what is to be done ?
Any suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.
There is no limit in HUBwatch as to how many hubs, hub modules, or
GIGAswitches you can manage.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to my doubts.
What is the meaning of above ?
Is this true for any distance between the hubs?
The hubs are seperated by more than 200 meters.
Thanks,
   Simple Response because topic is very large...
  Hubwatch works under SNMP management protocols, you must put a Ip address
  on all hubs that's you want to manage (SNMP works with IP protocol).
200 meters is *very* close.  I've managed hubs in Singapore from my office
here in Littleton Massachusetts, USA.
SNMP runs over IP which is a routed protocol.  Obviously, if you use HUBwatch
(or any other SNMP manager) to manage an SNMP agent on the other side of the
world it gets quite slow.  But managing anything within the same metropolitan
area will be just fine.
