1152.0. "Counters for DB 900 ports?" by CGOS01::DMARLOWE (Have you been HUBbed lately?) Fri Jun 24 1994 05:48

Just wondering about getting counter detail on DB 900 Ethernet ports.
If you double click on a DR 900FP, DR 900TM or a DC 900 and then
double click on any port you get additional information/counters
on that port. However when you double click on any port on the
DB 900, you do not get any additional information.

Is this right? My customer would like to get info on some of the
front panel Ethernets on the DB 900. It would be nice to see FPS,
BPS, error and collisions just like you do with a 900 repeater.
I this something coming or never to expect or not working for me?

For HUBwatch V3.0, we didn't have either the time or the manpower to do a
port window for the DECbridge 900MX.

In HUBwatch V3.1 (the next release on OpenVMS, Windows, and OSF/1), there
is a bridge port counters window for each of the bridge ports. It includes
the following MIB info:

Bridge counters:
   dot1dStpTimeSinceTopologyChange esysPowerups
   dot1dStpRootPort esysMgmtResets
   ebrCurrNVForwardingDBEntries esysUnsolicitedResets
   ebrCurrNVProtocolDBEntries

Port counters:
   ifLastChange dot1dBasePortDelayExceededDiscards
   ifInOctets dot1dStpPortDesignatedBridge
   ifInUcastPkts dot1dStpPortDesignatedPort
   ifInNUcastPkts dot1dStpPortForwardTransitions
   ifInDiscards ebrRateLimitAddressFrames
   ifInErrors ebrRateLimitProtocolFrames
   ifOutOctets ebrIfPortRestarts
   ifOutUcastPkts ebrIfUnknownDAReceived
   ifOutNUcastPkts ebrIfBadHelloLimitExceeded
   ifOutDiscards
   ifOutErrors

FDDI counters: (FDDI ports only)
   eMACFrameAlignmentErrors ebrIfFddiIpDatagramsFragmented
   eifBadFramesReceived ebrIfFddiIpDontFragment

Ethernet counters: (Ethernet and Wireless Ethernet ports only)
   dot3StatsAlignmentErrors dot3StatsDeferredTransmissions
   dot3StatsFCSErrors dot3StatsExcessiveCollisions
   dot3StatsSingleCollisionFrames dot3StatsCarrierSenseErrors
   dot3StatsMultipleCollisionFrames

For the V3.1 release, this is a standard HUBwatch counters window that can be
accessed either by clicking on a bridge port in the front panel display or
by double-clicking a port's connector in the bridge summary view. This
window will be available for all 900-series bridges, the RoamAbout, and for
GIGAswitch bridge ports.

Hope this helps,
Tom Hood

There is no bridge port view in HUBwatch V3.0. It was traded off
in order to get the release out. However, V3.1 will have a port
view that will supply the raw port counters for ethernet and FDDI
    ports.

Statistical calculations such as FPS, BPS etc. will be added in V4.0.

    Regards,
