1150.0. "DEChub uses special FDDI mib?" by TKTVFS::KOBAYASHI_S (Seiki Kobayashi, Network support/JAPAN) Thu Jun 23 1994 10:15

I have a question with FDDI mib for DEChub900 products. Our customer has NMS
using MCC and He wants to get some FDDI counter information from DC900mx and
DB900mx.

HUBwatch can get some counter information by using his extend MIB such
following objects.

SNMP Object Name SNMP Object ID
	fddimibMACFrameCts 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.15.73.2.2.1.21
	fddimibMACTransmitCts 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.15.73.2.2.1.23
	fddimibMACErrorCts 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.15.73.2.2.1.24
	fddimibMAClostcts 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.15.73.2.2.1.25
	etc...

I checked some FDDI mibs (FDDI_STD_MIBDEF.TXT,FDDI_EXP_MIBDEF.TXT) on DECmcc
but I couldn't find such objects.

Do the HUBwatch and DEChub products use special extend MIB file?
Can I get the FDDI mib file for using on DECmcc?

Regards,
Seiki

All the DEChub FDDI products implement rfc1512, the IETF FDDI MIB.

A little more detail to .1....

A Jan-1992 FDDI MIB (RFC1285) was superseded by RFC1512 in Sep-1993.
As Scott says in .1, we're now using the latest standard, RFC1512.
Perhaps MCC is still using the older RFC1285?

Names like "fddimibMACFrameCts" are from RFC1512.

All the RFC1512 objects are under the fddimib object so 1512 can co-exist
on a DECmcc system that has RFC1285 loaded.

And if you want to continue to be able to manage devices that support
RFC1285 (DEFEB,DEFCN, etc) be sure to select the AUGMENT option and and
not REPLACE when you load RFC1512.
