968.0. "Module not Supported" by HGOVC::JONASLEUNG () Mon May 09 1994 03:21

    Hi,

I have a DEChub 900 backplane which may always report the 32 ports
module of repeaters or terminals as unsupported. However I have
another backplane which does not have this problem. Any clues to the
above problem? As a result of this, there is no power supplied to any
    of the 32 ports module.

The firmware of the backplane is
                           HR: F
                          ROM: V1.1.6
                     FIRMWARE: V2.2.1

Is there any possibility that the backplane loses its firmware? Or how
can I load the firmware so as to trace the problem?

    Regards,
    Jonas

Are the modules in the backplane that is behaving properly, the same
modules that are in the backplane that is misbehaving?

If the modules work in one backplane and not the other, this means your
modules are ok. Have you tried the modules in other slots in the
    misbehaving backplane?

Questions are to find out if the problem is with the backplane or
    modules themselves.

    Hi,

Thanks for your help. I have tried the modules on another backplane.
They all work fine. It only fail on the specific backplane that I
    mention regardless of slot number.

    Regards,
    Jonas

What exactly do you mean by 'report the 32 ports module of repeaters or
    termals as unsupported'?

Please describe in detail what happens when you insert the module,
quoting any messages _exactly_. It might help to put the hub setup
port into Event Log mode and quote the output from it.
