910.0. "Disappearing terminal servers?" by EEMELI::RUOTILA () Wed Apr 20 1994 06:52

    Hi

Our customer is running hubwatch v2.0 for windows and they see
    following problem.
When they add terminal servers (90tl) to the backplane everything goes OK,
but shutting down hubwatch and starting again, they don't see servers
    anymore.

So, it is possible to save hub configuration so that you can see and
manage also terminal servers on the backplane so that you don't use
servers ip address when you start hubwatch? If yes, how to do it?

    Thanks, Risto

What kind of hub is this in 90 or 900?

I assume these are 1meg 90TLs? What software version are they
    running?

The way it's supposed to work (with 1meg TLs) is you add the server
using the add module window and add an entry to the agents file
with the servers ip and mac address. Then the entry should be permanent.

    re: .0

    Risto,

Like Bob said in .1, you can use the CONFIGURATION pull Down menu
(selecting ADD ) to add the Decserver90TL but you also need to
add an entry into your HUBwatch Agents file.

I just rechecked it and it works fine and you can enter/exit HUBwatch
without any problems with loss of config info.

Your agents file is in the area HUBwatch_Library which can be set to
anything you want (will likely be \HUBwatch\Userdata by default).

Edit your agents file (HW_AGENT.DAT ) and add in an entry for the
DECserver90TL like the following: (also a 90TL example in the agents
    file header)

    <ip address> <name> <"community string"> 5 2 <MAC address> DS90TL

    <ip address> - ip address of the 90TL

<name> - name you want to refer to the 90TL by

    <community string> - usually "public" (need the " ")

5 2 - default values for SNMP timeout (sec) and retry attempts

<mac addr> - mac addr of the 90TL or other module

DS90TL - Module type used in agent file for the DECserver 90TL

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

        Hope this helps...

The examples in the top of the agents file and the HUBwatch for
WINDOWS Use MANUAL can also be good references.
