894.0. "HW V3.0 and Pathworks" by GLDOA::JSCHMIDT (Wire's Wire; Unless it's a Network) Mon Apr 11 1994 14:26

    Will Hubwatch V3.0 support Pathworks?

    Maybe a better way to word this question is:
    Can I load and run Hubwatch for Windows, from a server running DECnet
    only, to a Pathworks V5.0 Client running a dual stack (TCP/IP and
    DECnet)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jim

    Jim,

    Do you mean you want the HUBWATCH software loading to a network drive
    and then to be able to connect to that drive and run HW?

    If so, doesn't the installation give you the option of installing to a
    drive which is already connected.

    I haven't tried it myself but now you have raised the question I think
    I will!

    Stuart,

    That is exactly what I would like to do.

    Please let me know if it works.

    Regards,
    Jim
894.3This should work on V2.0 - I assume you meant V2NAC::FORRESTThu Apr 14 1994 21:498
	I'm assuming that this works with V2.0 - I think Engineering has
	verified this in a Pathworks environment. No guarantees on Novell
	though.

	Stuart, please let me know if it DOESN'T work.

894.4Worked ok for me!DELBOY::STUS::Stuart HattoACB actually means A Cold BeerFri Apr 15 1994 10:368
Hi,

I have checked and assuming that the PWV5.0 Network is already installed,
i.e. don't install the network option in Hubwatch... It works just fine!

Saved some space on my disk that has!

    Hi. I'm with PATHWORKS support and just got a call from a customer
    who's using both PATHWORKS and HubWatch, and was confused about
    STARTNET.BAT vs. STRTNDIS.BAT; I looked at both and ended up having him
    just let PATHWORKS load TCPIP, TN, and BAPI. He says this works &
    recommended I suggest this be noted in HubWatch's documentation. To be
    honest, before yesterday I hadn't even heard of HubWatch, so hopefully
    this note is enough of a suggestion (if it isn't already in there & he
    just missed it).

    btw, does HubWatch need TN and BAPI loaded, or just TCPIP.EXE?

894.6will be documented in next version of bookTNPUBS::J_GOLDSTEINRun over on the Info HighwayMon Aug 01 1994 19:4014
Here's how I understand things...

You need TN and BAPI if you plan to use TELNET (needed if managing brouters from
HUBwatch).

If you're running PATHWORKS V5.0 and you have a TCP/IP network running, then
install HUBwatch only and use the PATHWORKS network. If you install our TCP/IP
stack, you'll need to use STRTNDIS to start the network before starting
HUBwatch. In any case, you need some TCP/IP network running before you start
HUBwatch.

This will be documented in the next version of the install book

    workgroups.

    Thanks in advance.
