| Jorge,
For MTBF numbers, contact Richard Busenbark (kalvin::busenbark).
(Be prepared for a lot of numbers. Temperature makes a difference.
Power supply MTMB has to be considered. Blah, blah, blah,)
Contact Shou Lee (delni::s_lee) for information about DECbridge900MX
hardware.
The bridge folks are reluctant to answer questions about what processors
are used, how much memory is used, etc. because there's great potential
to misuse the information. Customers shouldn't be comparison shopping
based on processor type. The most important thing for a customer to
know about the DECbridge900TM is that it screams (read: goes really,
really fast). It forwards at about 60,000 packets per second. If forwards
at wire-speed, which is about 60 MB per second. It also filters at
line-rates. (Again, contact Shou Lee or Anil Rijhsinghani (levers::anil)
for hardware questions and/or performance numbers.)
The DECconcentrator900MX folks were more forthcoming about their hardware -
but the same warnings apply. The processor and memory are only part of
the concentrator's hardware. There's custom silicon, etc. That said,
the processor is a 12.5 Mhz 68000. There's 512KB of "flash" memory, used
as the program store. And there's 1 MB of other memory used for variables,
buffers, landing pad, etc.
