729.0. "Problems with T2.3" by WOTVAX::CLOWESC (Colin Clowes) Tue Feb 15 1994 07:41

Hi,

I have tried to demo HUBwatch for windows T2.3 to a customer, and we found the
following problems:

The configuration was DEChub900, DECrepeater900TM, DECserver900TM and
DECbridge90FL

1/ The display did not show the port traffic levels on the DECserver900

2/Swithing the ports to network access did not have any effect on the
DECserver900

3/The DECbridge 90 display did not show any data (the display was there but all
data showed zero)

4/ The refresh time on the DECrepeater is very variable; from 10s to 30s, Is
this normal (this wan on a simple PC to DEChub only network).

5/ How do I monitor the backplane segment traffic levels ? (this may be just
lack of user skill !)

One last thing: When can I expect to see the production version ? I have a
15 off DEChub900 order hanging on a good demo of HUBwatch

Regards

Colin

There is no way to monitor the backplane lan;s in the DEChub 900
yet. You can use the packetprobe to monitor the thinwire and lan hop
the repeaters on/off the thinwire 1 at time to see there traffic.

Upgrade your dos version...to the latest (2.6), 2.7 to come out
by weeks end. We will be submitting to SSB when all the bugs are out,
this looks like 1-2 weeks from now.
