697.0. "Redirection of DEChub 900 Setup Port" by GIDDAY::KO (Anthony Ko @SNO - NSW Consulting, Australia) Mon Feb 07 1994 04:43

Hi all,

As I believed that the Setup Port of our DEChub 900 was re-directed to somewhere
previously by someone, nothing (not even the Hub Manager's menu) is displayed on
my terminal screen after powering up the hub. How can I reset the Setup Port or
the Hub Manager's attributes to factory settings? Replacing the Hub Manager ??

Thanks & Regards,
Anthony

    Anthony,

    	The DEChub 900 Setup Port console re-direct should not survive a
        power-cycle of the DEChub 900. Maybe try checking the terminal
        settings, cables, etc..

697.2That's strange!GIDDAY::KOAnthony Ko @SNO - NSW Consulting, AustraliaMon Feb 07 1994 21:265
Bob,

But I used the same cable and terminal connecting to the port 1 of a DECserver
900TM which attached to that DEChub 900 and messages were displayed on the
screen.
697.3Different Baud?LEVERS::DRAGONTue Feb 08 1994 10:568

    Anthony,

    	Could be that someone set the Setup Port's baud rate if your
        running a T3.x version of MAM code (ie 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600).
        You might want to try those settings.

    You should not be running a T3.X version, of course.

    The terminal should be set to 9600bps 8 bits, 1 stop bit, No parity

    If you power cycle the hub you should get the hub menu on the screen.
    No console state (redirect or event logging) is retained through any
    reset, including power cycle.

    If you don't, check to make sure that the MAM diags are passing (does
    the display show a hex failure code?) and the usual checks for the
    cables and the above settings.
