654.0. "MIB compiler for publicly available 3rd party MIBs?" by NWD002::KOPEC_ST (Squash:Racketball::Chess:Checkers) Mon Jan 24 1994 21:12

    any plans to allow the compilation of 3rd party MIBs under Hubwatch so
    that (from a cmd line interface) one could, at a rudimentary level,
    manage installed 3rd party routers?

No, we don't have any plans to do that sort of thing at this time.

We are beginning to aim toward more generalized management of classes of
devices, such that anyone's bridge (for example) that supports the standards
bridge MIBs can be managed at some level through HUBwatch. But we still have
a little way to go before even that can happen.

    HUBwatch will be bundled (or launch from) NMS platforms that have
    MIB browsers. The first example of this will be on MS-Windows
    with HP OpenView for Windows.

I would assume this would allow HUBwatch to manager our SNMP-based LANbridge
200's since they support the bridge MIB. Any ideas as to how complete the
management will be? (i.e. shows and sets, addr/prot filter definitions, ...)

Is this planned for HUBwatch for Windows V3.0 timeframe? If this needs to
be answered off-line, due to futures, please let me know.

Thanks,
