576.0. "Question on Hubwatch Traffic Statistics" by RT95::EISMAC::nichols (Network Partner) Tue Dec 21 1993 18:54

A customer has several DEChub 90s populated with a DEWGB and DECMRs with
several stations off each port/segment. He also has a DECagent on the
backbone lan for management of the Hubs. He would like to know if Hubwatch
for VMS or Windows can provide the following traffic stats for each thinwire
segment:
:overall traffic for each DECMR port segment
:traffic stats for each host on a segment (or atleast the top talker)
:a protocol breakdown for each host on a segment.

If the Hubwatch product does not provide this level of detail could
Packetprobe hardweare/software ?

Thanks,Rob

No, HUBwatch can't provide much info for the 90-series bridge and repeaters.
This is because the older devices themselves are pretty dumb. Most of the
counters you're looking for are simply not in the MIBs supported by those
devices.

On the other hand, the 900-series repeaters and bridge give an awful lot
of information, which is formatted and displayed by HUBwatch.
