569.0. "DEChub 900 and 90 modules" by CTOAVX::BEAULIEU () Thu Dec 16 1993 19:04

    Hi,

I have a DEChub 900 on the wall next to me with a DECbridge 90, a DEC
repeater 90T and a DEC agent 90 installed in it. I understand that in
order to manage the 90 units I need the DEC agent 90 and should not use
the agent in the DEChub 900. When I confiure the DEC agent 90 through
the asynch line on the front of the unit, the only options availible to
me are Onehub, DEChub 90 and extended DEChub 90. The later hub options
automatically put the DECbridge 90 in slot 7-8. To me this is very
confusing and I am wondering if I am out of REV in the DECagent module.
    What's the scoop?

    Ok, I know I need a DECagent 90 to manage a DECbridge 90 that is in a
DEChub 900, (I cannot use the DECagent 900 that is built into the
DEChub 900) OK.. So I have in slot one a DECbridge 90, in slot 2, I
have a DECrepeater 90T (lets ignore this module for now because I am
interested in the management of the DECbridge 90) in slot 3 I have the
DECagent 90 to manage the DECbridge 90. I do not believe I have broken
any configuration rules so far. Power everything up. Attach to the OBM
port on the DECagent 90. Start configuring. Add community.. options are
standalone, 8 slot hub or 16 slot hub. I pick 8 slot hub (fits DEChub
    900) no matter what I do after this, I have to answer that I have to
put the DECbridge 90 in slot 7-8. There are no rules about where the
DECbridge 90 has to go in the DEChub 900. Is this a rule? I have
DECagent 90 1.0 firmware, I am going to get 1.1 any pointers to the
    code would be helpful.

The newest rev of the DECagent 90, I think, has a DEChub 900 community
type. Get the latest released rev and try again.
