526.0. "Hubwatch and 900TM Term Server" by MEOC02::FINCH () Mon Nov 29 1993 02:19

    Hi,

    I am having problems managing the 900TM terminal server module using
    Hubwatch V2.0 on VMS.

    I am loading the 900TM with the ft version of NAS V1.3.

    I have 2 problems:

    Firstly the terminal server still thinks it is only 16 ports. I set it
    up as a DS900TM in dsvconfig.

    Secondly,
    Hubwatch still can't identify the module and I get type Unknown?

    Any help welcome,
    Thanks,
    Jill Finch

526.2SSB NAS Still problemsMEOC02::FINCHTue Nov 30 1993 18:459
    I loaded the new version of the NAS software. My problem with the 16
    ports is now fixed. However it is still regarded as an unknown module
    type in the hub.
    I have a 900tmr repeater as the hubmaster and various other 90 modules
    in the hub, all of which are correctly represented. It is just the
    900TM terminal server that the hub can't recognise..
    Is there anything special I am meant to be doing with this ?
    Thanks for nay help,

526.3check IP, SNMPQUIVER::HAROKOPUSWed Dec 01 1993 12:597
    Check to make sure that the terminal server has an IP address
    and SNMP is enabled.

    Also, Does the server show up on the MAM's LED display as unknown or only
    to HUBwatch?

526.4Is your DECserver's SNMP community PUBLIC?SLINK::HOODI'd rather be surfingWed Dec 01 1993 13:1111
Also, there's a known problem with the DECserver 900TM in a DEChub 900
where, if the SNMP community for the DECserver is anything except PUBLIC,
it doesn't work with the hub agent.

If this is the case, you'll need to manage your DECserver standalone.
You can keep it in the hub, but add an entry for it in your HUBwatch
agents file, then use the "Community->Manage Agents" option to select
the DECserver.

526.5We have one too....CSC32::B_GOODWINWed Dec 01 1993 14:217
Bob/Tom

We have a DS900TM in our hub and the MAM and HUBwatch shows it as unknown also.
Could this be because it is a field test unit running V4.0.1 firmware?

Thanks,
Brad

    Could be. Do a show server.

    We are running Network Access Software V1.3 for DS900TM
    BL77-27    ROM: 4.1-4.

    I would upgrade to the latest firmware and see if that fixes the
    problem.

Bob,

Can you give me details on how to upgrade? The DS900TM we have is an early field
test unit. We are currently waiting to get our real FCS units now.

    I'm not sure how to do your ROMs if they're old, but you can
    get the latest Network Access Software kit from:

    TOOK::NA$:[V1.3]
