474.0. "Brouter 90 and TRAPS?" by WARNUT::2H0533::Tim_Banks (Stealth Marketting :-)) Mon Nov 08 1993 13:18

	A customer would like to be able to use HUBwatch with the DECbrouter
90 (DEWBR) and set up traps on line utilisation to notify him when a
threshold is reached. He has not as yet decided on the HUBwatch platform
(Windows, VMS, UNIX) so we have some scope there.

	I can't find anything in the Brouter SPD about traps, and have asked
in the Brouter notesfile. However is there a particular flavour of HUBwatch
that would be better suited to catching TRAPS such as I desribed?

	Thanks for the input

Look for it in alarms in HUBwatch V3.0, due sometime around March for
workstations, a little later for PC's.

474.2What can we do todayWARNUT::2H0533::Tim_BanksStealth Marketting :-)Mon Nov 08 1993 15:3315
	Thanks for the direction statement, March is not too far away.

	What can be done today then, to produce traffic stats from HUBwatch?

	For this application, we need to keep track of utilisation on lines,
can HUBwatch TODAY do this, either as a background task or in real time on
the screen?

	Thanks

			PS I just wish I could get hold of some HUB hardware
to try this.............

Today, HUBwatch V2.0 displays frames/second on the summary screen for the
brouters. I don't think that info is polled in that version, so you have
to hit the <Refresh> button from time-to-time.
