934.0. "Document Management system for Exchange?" by LEMAN::BOTHNER (Tor Bothner (Office consultant, GEO)) Fri Mar 14 1997 17:17

Hi,

I'm looking for a document management system that will be used
with Exchange.

I have an RFP that states the following criteria:

- Version and revision control
- Rendering
- Annotation capabilities
- Replication
- Property inheritance
- Security and access control (read, write, update, delete and execute)
  through single-user, group and system access
- ISO 9000 Document Control

  Does anyone know of a suitable system?

  They also require a workflow system, but that I think I can manage
  through KeyFlow.

  thanks,

    please let us know what you come up with

    I'm working on a similar requirement for use internally. Our thoughts
    at this stage are centred around Outlook client/Forms -> Exchange
    Server Public Folders, server-side ODBC (SQL 6) for added value
    customisations, server-side Web publication from Exchange 5.0

    What other commercial approaches exist?

The most promising ponter I've found up til now is
FrontOffice ( http://www.frontofficetech.com )

However, I don't know anything about it yet.

    I researched this on the Web over the weekend. I'm still compiling
    some EDMS type references but if you want a good list of Workflow
    partners "blessed" by Microsoft for their Exchange integration, take a
    look at ;

    	http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/workflow/partners.htm

    Keyfile's "Keyflow" certainly seems to be a good contender. I would
    have thought that you would want the workflow and the EDMS pieces from
    the same vendor if possible.

934.4Have you looked at LinkWorks?SCASS1::HANSONLMon Mar 17 1997 18:307

    What about LinkWorks? I know it has been used in ISO 9000
    implementations. I believe that you can integrate it with Exchange for
    mail.
