Note 918.0 Exchange server installation on Alpha boxes 1 reply
DECWET::LOUX 9 lines 4-MAR-1997 19:05
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I currently have an Intel Exchange server, but would like to move to three
Alpha machines. I was trying to install the server software, and ran into a
problem when trying to install Service Pack 2. I have Windows NT 3.51 Service
Pack 5 installed. I had the same problem when installing over Service Pack 4
of NT. The installation process gets to the point of starting the services,
and then runs into an error and exits. When checking logs, I find that some
of the services did not start. I tried to start them manually, and got an
"internal NT error" message. I thought it might be the OS, so I reinstalled NT,
and started over, with the same result. I considered it might be a hardware
problem, but the same thing is happening on all 3 Alpha machines.
I have consulted several people at our location with no success, so any help
is much appreciated.

So you don't think anyone is ignoring you, keep in mind that there are
several WNT / Exchange folks at the Micro$oft "NT Wizards" symposium
in Redmond this week.
For what it's worth, I have two Exchange servers here in ALF running
WNT v3.51, Service Pack 5 with Exchange 4.0 and Service Pack 3 using
AlphaServer 2100A 4/275 processors ... without a problem. (You are
using the ALPHA kits, right?)
