884.0. "Migrate distribution list from ALL-IN-1??" by ACISS1::ZEISLER (Jim Zeisler DTN 447-2915) Mon Feb 17 1997 22:41

    Is there a way to migrate your ALL-IN-1 distribution list to Exchange??

    (point and click rather that re-enter??)

    Thanks

884.1Could be added to ExchangeLink...FLASK2::16.195.80.53::MCMICHAELA Cunning Plan...Tue Feb 18 1997 21:3310
Jim,

Not that I'm aware of at the moment. It would not be a very difficult task
to add this to ExchangeLink. However, I would need some funding to do
this. If you know any customers that would be interested, please talk to
David Newman (NewmanDA@mail.dec.com) the ExchangeLink Programme Manager.

884.2South Africa is doing it but HOW ????GYMAC::DCASSIDYThu Feb 27 1997 15:0823

    Hi,
    	On looking at the distribution lists from RTO in Munich (DIGITAL2)
    there is one distribution list which is names "South Africa ALL-IN-1
    Users".

    	Now how was this list created ??? Any South African techies care to
    ask their local administrator ???

    This has an enormous advantage when sending mail using MAPI. One would
    always send mail to ...."Firstname Surname" ...Exchange just picks
    this name and uses the currrent translation ...so when the user is
    upgraded to MS-Exchange the application requesting mail to be sent does
    not need all its mail addresses changed.

    A small tool to create this list would be excellent as it would remove
    to need for exchange users to know syntax for every ALL-IN-1 user...

    (BTW the application I'm talking about is MS ACCess)

	Regards,

    	Desmond.
884.3"ustom recipients" or MAPI/ELFUTRTSC::SCHOLLAERTThink before you shrinkThu Feb 27 1997 18:3213
    Hi,

    >there is one distribution list which is names "South Africa ALL-IN-1

    This is not a distribution list, these are "custom recipients",
    defined by the Exchange Administrator.

    Why do't you use MAPI/ELF (note 237) to lookup (ALL-IN-1) users ?

    Cheers,

884.4Now using MAPI/ELF ...does the job...GYMAC::DCASSIDYWed Mar 05 1997 17:448
    Jan,
    	Thanks....in the meantime I've installed MAPI/ELF and in fact works
    ideally...except...and I suppose this is a question for local IS
    groups...why isn't there a local ELF database at subsidiary level ??

    Regards,

    Desmond.

    DIGITAl using it's own software products ??? You must be kidding...
    Due to the Exchange move we need PC's and Hinotes, but those
    are 1) to expensive 2) not orderable 3) not deliverable
    but for hardware we are not allow to shop elsewere.

    Cheers,
