311.4Resource Kit V5.0 still not truly multiplatform!NQOS01::dyo_dial1_port4.dyo.dec.com::YinglingDave @DYOThu May 29 1997 16:3722
Well, the long awaited Exchange V5.0 Resoruce Kit is available at
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/reskit.htm. The web page even has a
handy-dandy chart that lists which tools are available on which platforms.

My complaint is that not all the tools are available for all platforms!
Specifically, the Mailbox Cleanup Agent is only available for Intel systems.
Anyone who has run a real, enterprise mail system (can you spell ALL-IN-1?)
realizes the need for such a tool. There are users that don't even understand
the concept of the 'Sent Items' and 'Deleted Items' folders and that they
need to be periodically cleaned out. With only 16GB of space to work with, I
maintain that the Mailbox Cleanup Agent should be standard equipment, but I'm
just another Microsoft user complaining to a bunch of other Microsoft users...

Is there a Windows/Exchange programmer out there that can answer a question?
I would like to know why the source code (assuming Visual C++) for the Mailbox
Cleanup Agent just can be recompiled/relinked for the Alpha? This seems like
such a simple thing to do, but apparently its not. Is this something that we
Digital are supposed to do and just haven't provided it yet?

Thanks for listening,

Dave
