1423.0. "New 'Atari World' Magazine" by FAILTE::ROBSONB () Sat Apr 01 1995 03:51

     A new Atari magazine entitled 'ST World' is due for
    release this month (April 1995) in the UK, and is
    being produced by the same team who were involved
    with 'ST Review' before it's demise.
     The first issue is apparantly to include two
    supplements, one for 'beginners' and another for
    'professional' users, and is to be distributed
    without the traditional 'cover disk' (although
    an optional 'reader disk' is apparantly to be
    available as an option).

1423.1Oops, that should be 'Atari World'FAILTE::ROBSONBSat Apr 01 1995 04:287

    Humble apologies, I have typed in the wrong name
    for the new mag - it is 'Atari World' (not ST World).
    Is there a way to correct the title in the base note?

1423.2promising mag, Atari World that isKERNEL::BLANDNorman Bland 833 3797 CSC, BasingstokeThu Apr 20 1995 17:4919
    Hello Brian,

    I reasonably pleased with Atari World and the two 'free' mags that come
    with it 'ST Source' & 'Atari Pro'. I just spoken to Neal O'nions about
    subscribing to the mags. My concern is the state of the mags when they
    arrive i.e. damage. He was very reassuring about the fact that some
    subscribers will want to collect these mags and keep them in good
    condition. I have been asked to supply feedback to him on this subject.

    Only those with moderator privileges or the writer of the note can
    modify it otherwise I would have done it for you :-))

    Cheers for now,

1423.3..interesting to see how it developsFAILTE::ROBSONBThu Apr 20 1995 18:1316

     Thanks Norman :-)

     I've changed the title of the base note as described.

      I quite liked the mag too and have subscribed, but I
    didn't like the 'two free mags' concept (re. the two
    supplements). I think they should be part of the main
    binding, and see no real need to 'pretend' that they
    are 'free mags' as my understanding is that they are
    to be a permanent part of the publication.
      It will be interesting to see how it develops - I
    understand it is available in Europe and the USA too.

    Hello Brian,

    > didn't like the 'two free mags' concept

    Yes, I'm right behind you - I believe they should be part of one mag.
    The idea that they are free is somewhat akin to a free tumbler when you
    purchase a Reader's Digest book :-)

    I believe they are feeling there way and did it this way rather than
    put it all into one, only to find that they had to rip it all out
    again.

    I wish them well.
