1399.0. "CoNnect" by EDDF10::ECKEL (No sports.) Mon Jan 31 1994 13:36

    Hello CoNnect-Users,

    from now on I will use this note to announce new CoNnect-Versions and
    discuss error reports or answer questions about CoNnect. I think it's
    easier to find these informations in a separate note than under some
    different mor or less sensible topics.

    Today I put the latest version of CoNnect in EDDF10::ATARI$PUBLIC:. It
    is numbered 2.45 and contains the following changes:

    - CoShy scripts can run in background. Most interesting for MagiX! or
      MultiTOS users.
    - The internal file transfer protocols now open the transfer process
      dialog box when started from a script.
    - Several corrections to the VT220 emulation.
    - Workaround for some bugs in Falcon TOS included.

    And ... still no FAX :-(

    As usual, there is a german and an english version, named CONNG245.LZH
    and CONNE245.LZH, respectively.

    Regards,

      Peter.

1399.1CoNnect 2.46EDDF10::ECKELNo sports.Mon Mar 07 1994 07:1324
    Hello,

    CoNnect version 2.46 is in EDDF10::ATARI$PUBLIC: .

    There are files named CONNE246.LZH (english version) and CONNG246.LZH
    (german version). There also is a file CONN246U.LZH, which contains new
    versions of CoNnect.ASC and CoNnect.PRG. This Update kit fixes a
    serious error in the internal ZMODEM, that was introduced with CoNnect
    2.45. The error results in occasionally losing beginnings of files
    transferred with the internal ZMODEM. The patch kit is the same for the
    english and the german version and *must* be applied.

    Features are:

    - corrected english help texts and messages (thanks to Norman Bland)
    - new 8192 byte block mode for ZMODEM
    - some new CoSHY commands
    - enhanced parameter expansion in CoSHY
    - "LED" displays running CoSHY script
    - corrected bug in CompuServe B protocol

    Regards,

      Peter.
1399.2v2.46 FTP'able?FAILTE::ROBSONBTue Mar 08 1994 13:108
    Peter,

    	Unfortunately I am not able to download from your directory,
    but do you know if v2.46 is available for FTP on any sites?

    Best Regards,
    Brian

1399.3CoNnect is at ftp.uni-kl.deEDDF10::ECKELNo sports.Tue Mar 08 1994 13:3114
    Hello Brian,

    what is is that prevents you from accessing my directory? Can I do
    anything about it?

    Some days after their release, CoNnect versions use to be ftp'able from

      ftp.uni-kl.de,  directory  /pub3/atari/telecom

    Regards,

      Peter.

1399.4thanks...FAILTE::ROBSONBTue Mar 08 1994 14:4412
    Hi Peter,

       I can access your directory O.K., but I do not have any way
    to transfer the file from the VAX to my Atari as I no longer have
    modem access to the office - sorry for any confusion, your directory
    access is O.K. :-)
    	Thanks for the pointer to ftp.uni-kl.de, I'll be able to ftp from
    there.

    Best Regards,
    Brian

1399.5CoNnect 2.46 remasteredEDDF10::ECKELNo sports.Tue Mar 15 1994 06:3811
    Hello,

    I have remastered the CoNnect 2.46 kits on EDDF10 now. There is no need
    for the CONN246U.LZH update anymore; the files from the update kit have
    been included.

    No changes beyond that.

    Regards,

      Peter.
1399.6Modem Responses (RING carriage return)KERNEL::BLANDNorman Bland 833 3797 CSC, BasingstokeFri Apr 22 1994 18:568
    Can any other CoNnect user please confirm the following:

    In the MODEM responses dialogue I get ring: RING*______
    where the * is really a carriage return symbol. This field is editable
    so the CR can be deleted. Surely this should not be there by default.
    V2.46 of CoNnect.

    Norman
1399.7RING vs. RINGINGEDDF10::ECKELNo sports.Tue Apr 26 1994 07:5716
    Hello Norman,

    the <CR> is there to detect that a RING really is a RING and not the
    first four letters of RINGING, which some modems send when they receive
    an incoming call. Either leave the <CR> in place or be sure that the
    modem doesn't send RINGING - otherwise the incoming call detection of
    CoNnect can not work properly.

    BTW, which version of TOS do you use? At least in 2.06/3.06 you can
    enter any character by holding the <Alternate> key down while entering
    the decimal number of the character on the numeric keypad. Not sure
    about 1.04.

    Regards,

      Peter.
1399.8Not in TOS 1.4CECEHV::NAGEL_EErlend NagelTue Apr 26 1994 08:288
    re .7

    alt numpad entering is not a standard facility in TOS 1.4, but there
    are plenty of utilities like accent 2.06 that add this function, along
    with some other useful smartkeys for accented characters.

1399.9FOUND ITKERNEL::BLANDNorman Bland 833 3797 CSC, BasingstokeTue Apr 26 1994 09:179
    I have TOS 1.62.

    Peter, I found the mention of carriage return character in the HELP
    text although I did not fully understand what it was saying. I may
    modify this now I have a better understanding. I had edited out the CR
    and saved the modification; I have now put it back with a CONTROL M (as
    per help file) and saved again.

    Thanks, Norman
1399.10Mag!X - CoNnect loses registrationKERNEL::BLANDNorman Bland 833 3797 CSC, BasingstokeWed Apr 27 1994 18:326

1399.11EDDF10::ECKELNo sports.Thu Apr 28 1994 08:2813
    Hello Norman,

    once more for the public:

    CoNnect uses the operating system version to calculate the registration
    key. This is probably to limit the time a cracked version can be used.

    Send a mail to Wolfgang with your new key and you'll receive a new
    registred version (of course for free).

    Regards,

      Peter.
