1359.0. "CD-ROM driver anywhere?" by UFHIS::BFALKENSTEIN () Sun May 02 1993 12:41

    I have a multisession Toshiba XM-3401B CD-ROM-XA, which I would
    like to connect to the Atari Mega STE 4 (TOS 2.05) via the
    AdSCSI Adapter from ICD. The CD-driver METADOS which I once
    uploaded to the net this won't work. Maybe I made something
    wrong with the setup or this driver doesn't support these kind
    of drives anyway. Any ideas? Any other CD-driver that I can
    upload and try out? It should support ISO 9660 to work with
    standard CDs for using cliparts and ASCII-datafiles.

1359.1ICD Supports CD Drives for the Atari.COMET::CARPENTERTue May 04 1993 03:107
    Check with ICD Bernd, they now support CD-drives with software called
    ICD Professional...unfortunately it's not PD but they also have another
    driver that they call ICD Elite (I'm not sure of the name) that MAY be
    PD. Other than that I'm not sure but if you're using the ICD AdSCSI
    adapter you should have gotten driver software with it and if it's new
    at all there will be a doc file on the disk that will let you know what
    they have along with their BBS support number. Hope this helps.
1359.2no luck with ICD by nowUFHIS::BFALKENSTEINTue May 04 1993 06:569

    Thanks for the info. The software I have with the AdSCSI does not
    support CD-ROMs. I was trying to reach ICD Europe in Germany, but
    received no answer so far. No I'll try their Hotline telephone
    number...

1359.3Here we go!UFHIS::BFALKENSTEINMon Jul 12 1993 15:0618

    To answer my own question...

    Well, finally got the CD-ROM working on the MegaSTE! I got the new
    ICD driver (from the LINK-adapter), which includes a good working
    MetaDOS and includes an audiodriver. Now I have two partitions, one
    for ISO9660 CDs, and one for HighSierra CDs. Access to a lot of
    cliparts from the PC-world, and a lot of databases in ASCII-format!

    I also downloaded a PD-programm called Audio-CD from a BBS, which
    enables me to listen to my favorite ZZ-Top CD while programming...

    So, if you can get hold of a cheap SCSI CD-ROM, and you have a
    ICD SCSI adapter, go for it! It works.
