1354.0. "No More STe ???" by TECRUS::ROST (Big Balls in Cowtown) Wed Mar 03 1993 13:27

Rumor flying around the Internet that Atari has officially ceased
production of the STe line, which is pretty funny considering they're
not shipping too many Falcons yet! Repeat: this is a *rumor*.

I hope they still are offering TOS upgrades for the STe's! I have a
1040ste (2 meg ram) that I haven't gotten the TOS upgraded, or the
whatchamacallit replaced to allow it to use a HD without
    overheating/destroying it.

Feb or March issue of ST User has an article on this also. Think it was just
repeating the rumour with no comment from Atari apart from they will be
continuing to support the STE (whatever that means).

Usual fact free ST User article!

Continuing to support the STE (whatever that means). Well that means
that they will acknowledge that the STe exists, and they did make it.
And more or less will say: Get 4 megs if you want anything to work,
good luck with your 720k drives, old tos and bugs.

I had a phone call with the ATARI switzerland salesman and he told me
that ATARI has ceased STe production and will now focus on the FALCON.

I am an STe user and my 1st concern is that I'd like to know if
my Steinberg MIDEX+ and Cubase will work on the FALCON, and if there
is a Direct-to-disk software that can handle eight tracks recording ?!

    My STe ? ? ? I'll sell it !
