1130.0. "Simple Menu system" by BAHTAT::SCATTERGOOD (Graham Scattergood) Fri May 24 1991 12:50

Could anyone advise me on the best way to create a simple menu system for an
STE. I want to be able to kick off a selection of games after booting up
without using GEM e.g.

1 - Game 1
2 - Game 2
3 - Game 3

The games are in a variety of formats .TOS .PRG etc.

The tools I have available are BASIC as supplied with the STE or STOS BASIC.
STOS allows menus to be created easily, but I can't see how to invoke the
external program.
Any help or pointers to existing code would be greatly appreciated.

Do you specificly want to write your own, or are you interested in using
existing menu programs?

Quickrun will do what you want. I don't know anything about Menumaster. There
are also a couple of other public domain menu programs but I can't think of
their names off hand.

1130.2SuperBoot also worksOPS5::HUTCHINSONHutchTue May 28 1991 16:134
You might also want to consider SuperBoot (shareware). It's a very capable
boot up assistant but might have more features than what you are looking for.

Thanks for the help so far.

I am happy to use someone elses program rather than write my own.

Is any of this stuff on the net? I have looked through note 9 but didn't
find anything. I'm a new user of this conference and just getting used to it.
