1064.0. "Which formats does GFA Draft support, HPGL, PS ....?" by STKHLM::ARENDI (Jaak Arendi CS/VIA STOCKHOLM) Tue Feb 05 1991 12:14

	Short question. Which fileformats can I plot my GFA drawing to?

		Not a Draft owner,     yet!

1064.1I presume it's a proprietary formatOLDTMR::WALLACEWed Feb 06 1991 00:096
The manual does not say what file format it generates. It is binary data but
it comes with a seperate program which can be used to convert it to ascii. I
have never used the coversion program so I don't know what it's file looks
like.

	Hello!
	I ment of course the plotfile formats and not the drawingfile

    I remember when I used GFA Draft the first version years ago, I was
    able to plot on a friend's plotter with HPGL.

1064.4How to get PostscriptSUBURB::JAMESHLeft Handed People are SUPER NaturalWed Feb 06 1991 08:203
    I use draft a lot and I plot HPGL to disk, bring it to work, use HP2PS
    to convert to Postscript and print on a PS printer. Works wonders!

1064.6Differences between GFA-DRAFT latest version and GFA-DRAFT /+ version 1.5 STKHLM::ARENDIJaak Arendi CS/VIA STOCKHOLMMon Feb 11 1991 05:1911
	Hi!
	I bought GFA-DRAFT plus instead and i'm wondering if there are any
	differences anymore between DRAFT and DRAFT PLUS. The version i
	got dated back in 1988, so i guess that the enhancements there are now
	included in DRAFT. Am I right or???

1064.7Here's Two DifferencesSUBURB::JAMESHLeft Handed People are SUPER NaturalMon Feb 11 1991 11:197
    Two major differences: 1)In Draft Plus you can save a drawing to disk
    as xxx.plt whilst Draft doesn't allow you to do this.
    2) All menue items are accessable from one screen in Draft Plus but
    from Draft you must switch screen.
    I had a problem selecting PLOT with Draft which is why I got Draft
    Plus.

1064.8Must be to obvious for me to seeYNOTME::WALLACETue Feb 12 1991 20:4010
Well I give up. How do you "plot to disk" (ie: save a HPGL file)? I've tried
the 'save' menu item which just saves the drawing in some (presumably
proprietary) binary format. I've tried the 'plot' menu item which only goes to
the plotter (or tries to, I don't have a plotter). I have not been able to
figure out how to plot to disk, or save using HPGL. I also was not able to
find anything in the manual about doing it.

Geez, this is making me feel like a novice ST user again :-)

1064.9Preset menu!STKHLM::ARENDIJaak Arendi CS/VIA STOCKHOLMWed Feb 13 1991 05:419
	If You look on the preset menu under plotter, You will find
	a choice where to direct Your plots. It's RS232, Centronics or
	disk. Hope this helps.

1064.10Draft or Draft Plus?SUBURB::JAMESHLeft Handed People are SUPER NaturalWed Feb 13 1991 08:376
    .9 is for Draft Plus only. If you have two sets of menu bars then you
    have Draft which doesn't allow you to plot to disk. "Barrel.xxx" would
    be a way to plot to disk in this case. I used this with another package
    that outputs to plotter. In fact I think you told me about it Ray.
    Cheers.

1064.11I'll look againYNOTME::WALLACEWed Feb 13 1991 13:017
It is Draft Plus that I have. I'll check out the preset menu.

Yes I'm familiar with Barrel

  Thanks,
