925.0. "Uniterm: How to send ESC seqs to printer" by CARWSH::MURRAY () Mon Jul 23 1990 12:34

Greetings!

When I'm using Uniterm, I've often had the desire to change my printer
setups (e.g. from draft to LQ or from 80 col @ 6 l.p.i to 132 col @ 8 l.p.i)
I know what the escape sequences are and I tried creating the files contain-
ing these sequences on a VMS system and then turning on Autoprint (Alt-F8)
and $TYPE-ing the files, but this doesn't work.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks for any pointers.

925.1Use controller mode, if they have it, insteadPRNSYS::LOMICKAJJeffrey A. LomickaMon Jul 23 1990 13:4311
If this were a DEC terminal, I'd say that you need to use "printer
controller mode" rather than "autoprint". On a DEC terminal, AUTPORINT
prints from the screen, as lines scroll, but printer controller mode
allows direct host control of the printer.

Try placing
	ESC [ 5 i ESC [ 6 i
before the text, and
	ESC [ 4 i
after it, and see if that helps.

Jeff,

Thanks! That was it exactly. Now I can <ESC> to my heart's content
(except from my kids :^) )
