743.0. "video shifted leftwards, timing problem with driv" by BERN01::RUGGIERO () Mon Jan 22 1990 06:32

I seem to have a hardware problem with my MegaST2.

When I connect a hard disk to it it looks as if the horizontal phase of the
video signal gets shifted. Without the drive attached the video bits are
nicely centered on the screen but when I connect the drive the complete
picture is shifted towards the left edge of the monitor. I guess it is a
problem with some driver ICs. Has anyone experienced similar behaviour?

743.1Hard drive near monitor?VISUAL::WEAVERDave, Image Systems GroupMon Jan 22 1990 21:334
    A stab in the dark, but do you have the hard drive located near
    the monitor? If so, try moving it.

    I have a similar problem with my machine. But it occurs when I have
    to reset the computer. After a reset my picture is also shifted
    some 1-2 cm to the left. No problems with the HD though. After a
    cold start everything is ok again. This behavior is really strange
    and I don't know what's happening in there!

    I have experienced the same problem several times. There are some
    indications that it does NOT appear, if printer and modem are dis-
    connected (bus load ?).
