700.0. "Switch for TOS 1.2 to 1.4???" by SVCRUS::ADAMS (beam me up) Tue Dec 05 1989 18:01

    Does anyone have a back issue of START magazine. I was told that
    the October or November issue had an ad for a switch/board which
    would enable you to have both TOS 1.2 and TOS 1.4 available at the
    flip of a switch. Thereby gaining all of the benefits of TOS 1.4
    while keeping the compatability of TOS 1.2 for all of the older
    programs and games. The price I think was around $70.00.

    If you have the chance to write your own EPROMs and got both versions
    of TOS, it should not be to difficult to use 512kBit EPROMs instead
    of 256kBit and write both versions into them. Then you may switch
    the two versions by switching the upper most address line of the
    ROM section. (Never tried it though...)

This exact scenario was discussed in USENET, I believe by Hartmut Semke of
Berlin. People intrested mght try asking there.

    $70 does not include ROMs. It's a socketed board with an external
    switch.
