    Hi Theo

    I take it you want to keep the 1st word format, ie you dont want to
    send straight ascii?

    IF you use UNiterm on the ST and Kermit on the Rainbow, or whatever,
    you can transfer in binary mode, then you could try using them in the
    PC version of 1st word plus.

    If you havnt got a program on the pc that takes 1st word plus format,
    then you will have to save the file as ascii in the 1st word menu.
    before transferring.

    cheers

    Pat K.

684.2Is Uniterm only for Dec persons?KERNEL::BARTLEYMon Nov 27 1989 15:378
    Thanks Pat.

    It is a friend of a friend that has the problem. Am I allowed to
    give him a copy of Uniterm (he's non-Dec)?

    Regards,

684.3Uniterm is public domainOLDTMR::WALLACEMon Nov 27 1989 16:055
Uniterm is PD so there is no problem with giving him a copy. There is another
terminal emulator program called WHACK written by Jeff Lomicka which IS "For
DEC Internal Use Only"!

Since WHACK doens't do KERMIT, it won't help here.

If the IBM Clone has 3.5" floppy disks, you can write the file out to a
floppy that is formatted on the IBM, and you will then be able to read
it back on either machine.
