677.0. "Double trouble" by CSC32::COMULADA () Tue Nov 21 1989 16:42

    Does anyone out there know how to get "Word Writer" to stop from double
    spacing when printing a file. There is a pull down select for double
    spacing but I did not select it. Cannot find info in the DOC that
    references the double space print. I also set the printer for "CR" only
    but it made no difference.

    Thanks,

677.1Check the Printer.CFG fileNETMAN::HOLZWASSERTue Nov 21 1989 19:5411
    Have you checked to make sure that you have selected the proper
    Printer.CFG file? Also, have you double checked the printer's switch
    settings? (I'm assuming this is the first time that you've used the
    printer and are finding problems.)

    If you've done all this and there are still problems, suggest you drop
    back and use a dumb printer interface for transmitting pure ascii
    text and simple printer commands. This step may require some editing
    of another printer's .CFG file to get it to be as simple as possible.
    Then when you're done editing, select it as your Printer.CFG file and
    run the test again. Hope that helps.

I assume that the double space item does NOT have a check mark next to
it? That's how you tell if it's selected. Try turning the page numbers
on - does it print one page across two pages, or does it print pages
numbered in the right place with double spaced text?

    When you set up your page layout make sure that the number of spaces
    that you leave for your left hand margin AND the total number of
    spaces between your tabs don't exceed 80 (I assume you are using
    80 character mode). If the total is greater than 80 the program
    will wrap the extra spaces onto the next line. Because you can't
    see them you think they aren't there, the computer on the other
    hand sees them quite well and acts accordingly, giving you a blank
    line between printed lines. Check it out by switching to a larger
    number of characters per line (96) without adjusting anything. If
    everything now prints without spaces between lines you've found
    your problem.
