614.0. "BBC Emulation" by MINDER::ADRIAN () Wed Sep 27 1989 12:59

I beleive that there is a package which allows you to run BBC software(including
a vast amount of eductional stuff) on the AMIGA computer. What I would
like to know is does such a package exist for the ATARI as well and, if not,
does anyone know of any plans to produce one ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

    If there is such a thing, I would also be very interested ...

    Just BBC basic for the ST would be fine for me !!!

    re BBC BASIC for the Atari

    Yes their DEFINATELY IS an emulator. I have seen it working!

    I think its in the Public domain, I will check it out.

    BUT WHY SHOULD I HELP people perverse enough to cripple an ST with
    oldie fashioned BBC stuff??

    Well ...

    I have a Z88 which uses BBC Basic but because of it's limited size
    display it's a real pain to program. If I could use a BBC basic
    emulator on the ST it would make life far easier.

    Don't worry, though, I promise to only use it for this purpose!

    Hello

    Despite my misgivings about encouraging backsliding I have put the
    BBC emulator in:-
    			 NOTSO::DUA0:[keane.st]BBC.arc

    Please let me know how you get on !!!, No I have no instructions, the
    emulator appears in a PD library. So get on with it!

    I've copied it and tried it. Unfortunately it has little use! You
    can't load or save programs! It comes up with the message "No filing
    system"!

    Maybe next version ... !

    It does seem to be pretty close though. Even the modes are implemented.
    I haven't checked to see if the teletext features of mode 7 are
    there though.

    Jamie,

    If you put the BBAS.PRG and STDFS.EXT on the same disk and boot
    it, you should get BTMsoft STDFS printed after the BBC 62K message
    to show that STDFS has been loaded.

    It worked for me !!

    Cheers
