572.0. "PC-Ditto II ??" by ENGINE::PAULHUS (Chris @ MLO6B-2/T13 dtn 223-6871) Fri Aug 18 1989 16:18

    	Has anyone got hold of PC-Ditto II yet? What, exactly, do
    you get? Is it a cartridge with a 286 chip in it that plugs in
    the cart. port? Can you pass Word Perfect files back and forth
    from the Atari regime to the PC-Ditto II? [ I'd love to be able
    to use one of the grammar checkers that exist in MS-DOS but haven't
    hit Atari land.] How about other cartridges: will I have to unplug
    my DeskCart every time I want to use PC-Ditto II? Is anyone making
    a switcher for the cart. port? (It should have 3 ports: PC, Spectre,
    and DeskCart.) - Chris (who misses net.rec.atarist)

        Is internally installed ontop of the 68000 cpu. It suppsedly
    offers 3 times the performance of an XT. It was tried at one of
    the atari shows to see if it would work on a system that has one
    of the 16mhz upgrade boards, and it didn't work.

        I would imagine so, but don't know for sure.

        No, it doesn't use the cartridge port.

        I don't know.

                               do you mean
                             comp.sys.atari.st
                             if so, you can get them, see
                            the notes conferences
                             UPSAR::NEWS-BACKBONE
                             UFP::XRN              (X based newsreader)
                            there is a text based newsreader called vnews
                            I don't know if it has a conference for itself.

572.2No PC-DITTO II but PC_SPEED !UTRTSC::BRANCH_ADAMBranch_Amsterdam HollandMon Aug 21 1989 08:1321
    Here in holland no PC_DITTO II is available yet but ..

    There is an other emulator available called PC_SPEED.
    It uses an 8 Mhz NEC V30 chip on an small PCB which is soldered on top
    of the 68000 CPU.
    The converted price will be about $350.
    I installed this in my system system (MEGA 2) and it offers me 640Kb
    dos memory plus 64kB extended memory.
    All atari AHDI compatible harddisks are supported up to two partitions.
    So you can use from your atari harddisk 1 or 2 partitions for dos.
    It should perform at norton 4 but i havn't got the utility to prove
    this though it is very fast.
    In the manual it says you have the same memory available on an 1 meg
    machine.
    How compatible it is ??. Flightsimulator II runs.
    Your atari stay's as compatible as it was.

    More questions ? please forward them to me.
