445.0. "PD sequencer or composition software for MIDI?" by AIRPRT::GRIER (mjg's holistic computing agency) Mon Apr 10 1989 18:34

Is there a cheap (i.e. PD or share/free-ware) MIDI sequencer/composition
software available? I'd like to start fooling around with getting my DX-7 and
ST talking, but I really don't want to go spending several hundreds of dollars
right now to get a "really good" package. (I know -- you get what you pay for,
but you can only buy what you can afford!!) There are many PD programs out
there, but many of the names are not straightforward, so I don't know what
might be a MIDI driver, and what might be a new spreadsheet! :-)

If this belongs more in one of the MIDI topics, feel free to move it, but
I thought it was unique enough to deserve its own topic...

I'm developing a sequencer, as I don't feel like spending
big bucks on software either. My initial plan is to make
the software FREE for any DEC employee that is interested.
This is assuming that I can find a way to copy-protect it.

As far as existing PD midi sequencing programs, I have ONE
    called MIDI32, which is a 32-track sequencer.

Send me a disk, and it's yours. It's quite limited, but
I played around with it before buying Dr T's (cheap) Midi
Recording Studio, which is a stripped-down version of
    KCD, the Keyboard COntrolled Sequencer...

Let me know if you're interested in MIDI32...
