    Welcome to Personal Computing!

It sounds like you are not familiar with 'copy protection'. Have
you ever heard of software pirates?

The current copyright laws allow you to make a backup copy of anything
you buy. They forbid giving or selling copies to anyone else. In
order to protect their investment the sofware companies often do
strange things to their distribution disks to prevent ANY copying.
You are expected by these companies to only use the original disk.

I happen to believe that using a copy of a program that you did
not purchase is wrong and very harmful to the survival of Atari
    computers.

If you have the original disk - use it. If you don't - buy it.
I'm sorry to come on so strong, but it's the way I feel about a
very large problem in Personal Computing. I apologize if I have
    misinterpreted your problem.
358.2Maybe it's PD fellas?SEDOAS::TAYLORThu Jan 05 1989 07:5419
    Maya,
notwithstanding Buzz's 'hard line' answer, if you're 'new' to the
computing world, you may not be familiar with some of the terms
    and issues, for example:

PD software - this is short for 'Public Domain', i.e. nobody expects
you to pay for it, there is no 'copy protection', there is a great
deal of it available, a lot of it is rubbish.

Without knowing what game you are trying to use, we cannot know
    whether it's 'PD', or not.

    Care to tell us?

Honest, we will try to help!

    regards,

    Ken.T.

Thanks for the help... I tried to copy a copy not an original
one.I heard something about pirates, PD, etc. This one I have tried
it wasn't in this protected category -at least at the first view.May
be the information I have about are wrong.
In any case thank you and best regards
