252.0. "BOOKS on ATARI ST Programming" by WSE072::ANDERSEN () Tue Sep 27 1988 19:09

I am always looking for good books about programming the Atari ST.
Most of the books I have found seem second rate to me. I have
found one book that I think is really excelent. It is:

    		Atari ST Application Programming
    		by Lawrence J. Pollack
    		Data Tech Publications, Sept 1987
    		Bantam Computer Books

The examples are written in 'C' and you need a resource editor
to complete the second half of the book. The book provides a very
clear description of the programming techniques to use every
feature of the Atari, starting with simple VDI line drawing,
animation, sound generation, and on thru windows and mouse control.
The book develops 15 complete and very useful programs. The
programming style is first rate, very professional.

I never would have mastered AES programming from any/all of the
other books on the market, including the developers kit and MWC.

If your bookstore dosen't carry it, order it sight unseen. If
you aren't happy with it call me a jerk.

Two questions:

	- How much does it cost?

	- Does it correct the bugs in earlier publications, for example,
the return value of rsconf() and the parameter values to
fdaytim(), or does it just forward on the old junk again.
