177.0. "Announcing BulkDump V4.0" by PANGLS::BAILEY () Fri Jul 29 1988 18:38

    I have written an ST program which (supposedly) allows MIDI SYSEX
    data to be archived on your ST.

    The program handles handshaking and host initiated loads and stores
    through a user created configuration file.

    This program is for DEC internal use only.

    The files are on MAY14""::BulkDump.*

       BulkDump.Prg      The program
       BulkDump.Rsc      The resource
       BulkDump.Cnf A sample configuration file (mine)
       BulkDump.Txt      The documentation.

    Please send me any comments you have or bugs that you encounter.

    Stephen, I am very impressed with how bulkdump works with my DX7
    IIFD. I am wondering if you can help me out. I want to be able
    to bulkdump all of memory on the DX7 II, not just the first 32 patches.
      I havn't been able to decifer the midi information in the owner's
    manual to change the cnf file for bulkdump. Can you let me know
    how to do other things with the cnf file for the DX7 II?

    Thanks,

177.3Do it ``manually''.PANGLS::BAILEYWed Sep 14 1988 20:4712
    Well, one way to do this, if you don't want to understand the SYSEX
    protocol of your synth is to initiate the dump from the synth.

    In other words, click the ``Receive'' button in the control window,
    and then push whatever buttons are necessary to get the DX7II to
    dump its guts (this procedure should be listed in the owner's manual).

    Ideally, you would want to add a new command to the .Cnf file to
    get the DX7II to dump all its state. The codes to do this should
    be described in the back of the synth's manual.
