141.0. "ST --> IBM 3.5"" by KALKI::LANG () Mon Jun 27 1988 16:44

    Is there any software (PD, shareware, or real-dollar) that permits
    an ST to read and/or write MS-DOS compatible file structure? I believe
    that I saw an article about it some time ago in one of the ST mags.
    Don't remember where, when because information was somewhat acedemic
    then (but is important now, having recently acquired a Toshiba T1000)

    Rich,

        Your ST can read and write 720K MS-DOS disks, as it stands.
     No additional software is needed. The only qualifications that
     need be made here, is that the disks need to be formatted on the
     MS-DOS machine. If you format the disks on the ST, then the PC
     will not be able to read them. There are PD programs that format
     MS-DOS readable/writeable disks on the ST.

    A program to format IBM compatible disks on the ST can be found
    in:	MILRAT::DISK$USER3:[WALLACE.PUBLIC.ST]IBMFMT.ARC and
    	MILRAT::DISK$USER3:[WALLACE.PUBLIC.ST]IBMFMT.C

    The .C file contains the documentation and the source, the .ARC
    file contains the executible.

141.4Running MS-DOS on ST is also possibleHLDG02::VELZENWed Jun 29 1988 11:385
    Don't forget PC-DITTO, the MS-DOS emulator program (not free).
    It allows you to run MS-DOS programs on your ST (at a speed of 1/3
    of an XT).
