29.0. "SHEET.PRG & TOS ERROR #35" by CSOA1::FISHER (Al Fisher) Fri Apr 08 1988 02:50

    I copied all the SHEET files down to my local VAX and them kermitted
    them to my ST. When I run SHEET.PRG I get a couple disk seeks and
    then a TOS ERROR #35. What is it telling me?

    P.S. Could some kind soul create a note with the various TOS error
    codes and their causes?

    Thanks,

    ALF

29.1Trap thru 4.SEDSWS::WATTIt's life Jim, but not as we know it.Fri Apr 08 1988 09:269
    Did you set kermit up for a binary file transfer ?
    The command is (prompt)Kermit 32> set file type binary
    If you don't do this then the file will be corrupt and you will
    get the TOS error 35. I believe this is a get out of jail error,
    a bit like TRAP thru 4 on the PDP's or Invalid exception whilst
    above AST delivery, in other words it covers a lot of sins.

    Regards Peter.

29.2I'll give another tryCSOA1::FISHERAl FisherFri Apr 08 1988 12:5213
    On the VAX I did do a 'set file type binary'.

    I use PC/Intercomm on the ST and I set it up as 'kermit image'.

    I've transfered a lot of files with this combination of set ups.
    I'll give it another try, but I think I'll get the same results.

    I'll let you know....

29.3Corrupted SoftwarePEOVAX::LEWISRONCO makes the best board popper...Fri Apr 08 1988 13:289
    I had the same type of problem when I first got my ST and had someone
    send me a copy of UNITERM which supports file transfers. I could
    not copy and de-arc anything without getting TOS Error #35. The
    system would seem to be doing the correct things (no errors during
    transfer). To make a long story short, I used my VT52 emulator
    along with kermit and everything worked o.k. I later copied a new
    version of UNITERM.ARC and de-arced it and to this day all is well.

29.4Wrong file type ??SEDSWS::WATTIt's life Jim, but not as we know it.Fri Apr 08 1988 14:467
    Al,
    It's possible that the file is uue encoded, I remember a while back
    having the same problem, and found out that the file was not really
    a .PRG but a .UUE. I also use PC/Intercom and have never had any
    file corruptions using it (yet). Best of luck

    Peter.
29.5Might be my fault, I'll checkAJA::WALLACEFri Apr 08 1988 16:278
    It definitly is NOT UUEncoded. I will check out the problem tonight
    and make sure that I get GOOD copy uploaded. I'll let you know
    when I'm done.

    Sorry for any inconvenience. Next time I will verify any uploads
    before I post them.

29.6SHEET files ok nowMAST::WALLACEMon Apr 11 1988 15:5212
    Over the weekend I checked out the SHEET files I uploaded, they realy
    were corrupted. I'm sure I used the correct kermit settings so I don't
    know why it didn't work. So I put them all in an ARChive and uploaded
    them again. I downloaded the arc file to make sure it got there ok and
    everything seems fine now. I even unportected the file this morning
    (thanks Buzz).

    Just to reitterate, SHEET is a public domain spreadsheet (seems to be
    nicer than VC) and can be copied from
    	LIBRTY::USR:[WALLACE.PUBLIC.ST.SHEET]SHEET.ARC
