I have a infoserver 1000 that has a tz85 tape drive
VAX VMS is running 6.1 and the infoserver software is at
version 3.4. After upgrading from 3.2 We started have the
following issue. I did try appling cscpat_1128 to no avail.
LADCP>bind/system/tape/perm/noassist tape_service

$mount/noassist/foreign mad27:
%MOUNT-I-MOUNTED, TEST mounted on _$1$MAD20: (BRAVES)
$dismount MAD27:
"I reload the tape "
$ mount/noass/for MAD27:
%MOUNT-F-MEDOFL, medium is offline
The device is still online to the infoserver and VMS
Sometime there is a left over connection and sometime there is not
If I re-init the tape I can mount it.

Does the InfoServer drop the link after the DISMOUNT? (SHOW SESSIONS on the InfoServer will tell you.) If you use DISMOUNT/UNLOAD (which shouldn't delete the MAD unit since you used /PERM) does it work better? --D | |||||

I think I found the issue, before I applied cscpat_1128 the error happened with both Bind/system/tape/perm and Bind/system/tape/perm/noassist. After I applied the patch I had tried Bind/system/tape/perm/noassist and was still failing but since then I tried Bind/system/tape/perm and now it is working So 3.4 with cscpat_1128 applied and leaving the noassist off of the bind command has solved my issue.
