1232.0. "Retrieving old TV shows" by JHAXP::DECARTERET (Live mice sit on us) Wed May 28 1997 14:25

Is there a unified source for ordering old TV shows or what not?

About 2 weeks ago I saw the funniest skit I have ever seen in my life
(you get my point). MAD TV did a clay animation parody of the TV
series 'Cops'. I would love to get a copy of it.

Maybe I'd have better luck asking for it in a related newsgroup?

No, there's no single source, and the majority of shows are not available
on tape - especially, flashes-in-the-pan such as MAD TV. You can try writing
to Fox (which produced the show, I think) and cross your fingers that they're
feeling generous.

I don't know squat about old TV shows, but I have ordered 'what not'
from several vendors, and even found some free, on the road and in
forests.

Let me know if you still need some and I'll point you in the right
direction.

Another tack you might try is asking in some related newsgroup if anyone had
taped the particular show you're interested in and is willing to make a copy
of it if you send the tape and postage. This is rather common, and I think
would be covered as "fair use" under the copyright laws and the court
decision saying that broadcast programs could be freely taped by consumers for
personal use.

I never saw the "P.C. (Politically cCrrect I presume) Cops" sketch.
I'm sure the one I saw was called "Clops" for CLay cOPS.

Thanks for thinking of me, though!
