1574.0. "Motels that accept kittys" by VIDEO::USHER () Thu Jul 21 1988 16:08

Does anyone know of a listing of hotel/motels that will take cats?
I may be travelling down to Florida by car and if anyone has a list
or knows of where one can be obtained it will be appreciated.

I was recently told that ALL Holiday Inns accept pets.
Don't know for sure if that is true. But if it is, at
least there are lots of them around. You might also call
the Best Western chain and see what there policies are...
again, that's just because they are all over the place,
not because they are necessarily the best or least expensive.

Otherwise, my experience has been that it is the WORST and
the BEST hotels/motels that accept pets; the *worst* because
they are already pretty grungy, and the *best* because "Anything
Madam wants will be provided. Shall we carry the cats in for
    you, Ma'am?"

I think that the Ramada Inns accept pets also - the one in
Concord NH does - don't know about other states.

The one time I traveled with Oscar and had to stay in a hotel, I
didn't ask whether he was allowed or not -- I just snuck him in
under my coat. I was sure to chain bolt the door at night, and
I left the next morning before the chambermaids arrived.

Nobody ever found out that he was there

It is true that Holiday Inns do accept pets, EXCEPT when the local
    town ordinances say, "NO PETS."

I believe you can pick up a book at Holiday Inns that list ALL inns
what they offer,(pool, restaurant, kennels, etc. This will tell
you whether that particilar one will take pets or not. Also AAA
has books with this info too. If you are not a member of AAA and
you are going to take a trip like that with an animal I would
suggest you join. IF something happens and you need a garage or
something the service is usually quick. No sitting in a hot car
waiting for someone to help fix a tire or a broken down car.
    (I am speaking from experience.)

Also if you have home owners insurance your pet is included in the
liability part of your policy. (In case damage is done with claws)

When checking in put the "DO NOT DISTURBE" sign on the door and
no one (including maid) will open the door. That way you do not
have to worry about your cat escaping.
